Lachlan funeral details

Lachlan’s funeral will be held on Monday 29th November 2021, Dalnottar Crematorium, Clydebank at 10.30am.

I would expect there will be a good turn out for our Ex Captain and 214 stalwart.

We hope that those who can attend, will do so and wear their 214 ties.

Lachlan May

Sorry to have to advise you all that Lachlan passed away on Tuesday morning 2nd November 2021 at the age of 71.

Lachlan reporting at the Annual reunion in 2009

Lachlan was a dedicated 214 man, having served as an officer in both the Lifeboys (Junior Section) and as Captain in the Company from 1979-1984.

Lachlan (2nd left back row) and all the 214 BB Lifeboy Staff in 1968 at Chrissie Rowan’s retirement.

He served on the Ex-Members Association on the Committee, also as Secretary & Chairman.

Lachlan advised me recently, he had completed 57 years in 214 service as man and boy.

Lachlan fronting the Company at the Annual Inspection in 1983 (BB Centenary year)
at St Thomas Aquinas Secondary School.

I personally have a lot of great memories of Lachlan, having been in the Lifeboys/Junior section and also served as an Officer during his Captaincy.

He recently recalled all his 214 history to me, which I will publish on the website when the time is right.

Details of his funeral will be posted once known.

(Family will be coming up from down South, so finding accommodation may be problematic while COP26 is going on in Glasgow.)

Meanwhile, we all send our condolences to his wife Anne, their children Kenneth, Kirsty, Donald and all the family.

October refreshment & reminisce

Friday night saw another great online catch up.

All the stories coming out about Whiteinch, Pipe Bands, Football, Inspections, The Staff, The Ministers, Gordon Park, Jordanvale, Camps, Parades, Squads and much more.

Some of the ‘Boys’!

Great to see all the faces and hear the stories.

We are hoping we get back to normal in March 2022 but who knows what Covid position we’ll be in by then.

I’m sure we’ll catch up anyway somehow.

Norrie Copeland
