Sorry to have to advise you all that Lachlan passed away on Tuesday morning 2nd November 2021 at the age of 71.
Lachlan was a dedicated 214 man, having served as an officer in both the Lifeboys (Junior Section) and as Captain in the Company from 1979-1984.
He served on the Ex-Members Association on the Committee, also as Secretary & Chairman.
Lachlan advised me recently, he had completed 57 years in 214 service as man and boy.
I personally have a lot of great memories of Lachlan, having been in the Lifeboys/Junior section and also served as an Officer during his Captaincy.
He recently recalled all his 214 history to me, which I will publish on the website when the time is right.
Details of his funeral will be posted once known.
(Family will be coming up from down South, so finding accommodation may be problematic while COP26 is going on in Glasgow.)
Meanwhile, we all send our condolences to his wife Anne, their children Kenneth, Kirsty, Donald and all the family.
Friday night saw another great online catch up.
All the stories coming out about Whiteinch, Pipe Bands, Football, Inspections, The Staff, The Ministers, Gordon Park, Jordanvale, Camps, Parades, Squads and much more.
Great to see all the faces and hear the stories.
We are hoping we get back to normal in March 2022 but who knows what Covid position we’ll be in by then.
I’m sure we’ll catch up anyway somehow.
Norrie’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 27th October 2021 1.15pm, at J. Drummond’s Funeral Parlour, Hardgate, Clydebank.

Thereafter at Old Dalnottar Cemetery (opposite side of A82 from the Crematorium.)
We hope that those who can attend, will do so and wear their 214 ties.
After deciding to cancel the rearranged reunion we have decided to have another online get together for a chat and a night of memories.
So look out your computers, tablets or ipads and come along on
Friday 29th October at 8pm (Whiteinch time)
We will soon send you an email with the link to join on the night.
It’s not hard to do, so come along all you young technophobes the older guys are showing you up.
I have been advised that Norman (Norrie) Copeland passed away on Saturday 16th October 2021.
Norrie would have been 93 next month and was always a regular at the reunions.
I will advise regarding funeral details once known.
We send our condolences to his daughter Linda and all the family at this sad time.

Hi Gents,
We sent out an email with a Newsletter attached at the end of September, indicating we were going to try and have a Reunion on 29th October 2021.
Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid-19 risk and the ages of a lot of our membership, ‘The Committee’ took the decision to cancel this meeting and instead run a Virtual Online get together.
Details of Online get together will appear in due course.
Following on from my latest post, Robert’s funeral will be held at
Clydebank Crematorium Dalnottar
Wednesday 15th September 2021 at 10.30am
Robert has a small family and it would be great to see as many Ex Members as possible attending (along with their 214 tie).
Clydebank Crematorium Dalnottar, Mountblow Road, Clydebank, G81 4SL
Tom Connelly informs me of the passing of his great 214 friend Robert Limond yesterday, 10th August 2021.
Robert would be 82 or 83 and was a great swimmer in his days with the company. He also played the side drum in the band along with George Seymour.
He served his apprenticeship building gymnastic equipment as a Joiner, though Tom assures me he never built the 214BB Parallel Bars.
We send our 214 condolences to his wife Christine at this sad time.
(I will advise regarding funeral arrangements once known.)
